2003-06 - One King Street West - Toronto

One King Street West or 1 King West is a new hotel-condo project in the heart of Toronto's financial district. The tower is built on an existing building, the Dominion Bank Building (Toronto) (180m) built in 1914. The new condo tower stands at 51 stories or 176 metres and will be the most slender residential structure in the world.The building is finally complete, and offers 500 suites, as well as a 2 storey penthouse. Rooms are either in the new tower, or in the historical building forming the base of the complex.

 

2000 - Empire Theater - New York City

Empire Theater; New York City
This Thomas Lamb designed theater, built in 190 was moved 170 feet to the west in 1998 to accommodate development on its original site. As part of this project, iconoplast was commissioned to restore the ornamental plaster in the theater (now in its new location). Noteworthy aspects of this job included recreation of portions of the plaster that were destroyed over time, as well as removal of the plaster from the fascia of the second balcony and reinstallation of that plaster on the fascia of the first balcony.

 

 

2000 - Selwyn Theater New York City

Selwyn Theater, a.k.a. American Airlines Theater; New York City
iconoplast was hired to restore and recreate missing elements of the ornamental plaster in this eighty-year-old theater. Highlights of this commission included the removal and reinstallation (in a slightly altered configuration) of a center ceiling dome, as well as creation of an ornamental shield based on iconoplast modern interpretation of the original design.

 

 

1996-97 - Ford Center for the Performing Arts - New York City

The Lyric and Apollo Theaters, built in 1904 and 1920 respectively, were combined (in 1997) to create a single 1,800 seat Broadway musical house. iconoplast was commissioned to remove and restore the historic ornamental plaster features from the former Apollo Theater and reinstall those feature into the newly built Ford Center for the Performing Arts. One of the noteworthy aspects of this job was the requirement to alter the dimensions of the proscenium arch and its flanking arches. iconoplast added eight feet to the width and five feet to the height of the proscenium arch while maintaining the original geometry. 1992 - St. John's Imperial Theatre New Brunswick, Canada

1987-88 - Pantages Theater - Toronto

The Pantages Theater, originally built in 1920, had been converted to a multiplex movie theater when iconoplast designs, iinc. was hired to restore the theater back to its historic grandeur. Noteworthy aspects of this job included restoration of the great dome, which had been sliced in half when the original theater was converted into a multiplex; recreation of two large intricate grilles on either side of the stage; restoration of the entrance foyer; and the creation of over 3,500 plaster casts to replace missing or damaged ornamentation.
